My father was a self-taught mandolin player. He was one of the best string instrument players in our town. He could not read music, but if he heard a tune a few times, he could play it. When he was younger, he was a member of a small country music band.They would play at aion account local dances and on a few occasions would play for the local radio station. He often told us how he had 2)auditioned and earned a position in a band that featured Patsy Cline as their lead singer. He told the family that after he was hired he never went back. Dad was a very religious man. He stated that there was a lot of drinking and cursing the day of his audition and he did not want to be around that type of aion money environment. Occasionally, Dad would get out his mandolin and play for the family. We three children: Trisha, Monte and I, George Jr., would often sing along. Songs such as the Tennessee Waltz, Harbor Lights and around Christmas time, the well-known 3)rendition of Silver Bells. "Silver Bells, Silver Bells, its Christmas time in the city" would ring throughout the house. One of Dad's favorite 4)hymns was "The Old Rugged Cross". We learned the words to the hymn when we were very young, and would sing it with Dad when he would play and sing. Another song that was often shared in our aion power leveling house was a song that accompanied the Walt Disney series: Davey Crockett. Dad only had to hear the song twice before he learned it well enough to play it. "Davey, Davey Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier" was a favorite song for the family. I could never get over how he could play the songs so well after only hearing them a few times. I loved to sing, but I never learned how to play the mandolin. This is something I regret to this day.
Dad loved to play the mandolin for his family he knew we enjoyed singing, and hearing him play. He was like that. If he could give pleasure to others, he would, especially his family. He was always there, sacrificing his time and efforts to see that his family had enough in their life. I had to mature into a man and have children of my own before I realized how much he had sacrificed.
I joined the United States Air Force in January of 1962. Whenever I would come home on leave, I would ask Dad to play the mandolin. Nobody played the mandolin like my father. He could touch your soul with the tones that came out of that old mandolin. He seemed to shine when he was playing. You could see his pride in his ability to play so well for his family.
When Dad was younger, he worked for his father on the farm. His father was a farmer and 5)sharecropped a farm for the man who owned the property. In 1950, our family moved from the farm. Dad had gained employment at the local 6)limestone 7)quarry. When the quarry closed in August of 1957, he had to seek other employment. He worked for Owens Yacht Company in Dundalk, Maryland and for Todd Steel in Point of Rocks, Maryland. While working at Todd Steel, he was involved in an accident. His job was to roll angle iron onto a 8)conveyor so that the 9)welders farther up the production line would have it to complete their job. On this particular day Dad got the third index finger of his left hand mashed between two pieces of steel. The doctor who operated on the finger could not save it, and Dad ended up having the tip of the finger 10)amputated. He didn't lose enough of the finger where it would stop him picking up anything, but it did runescape gold impact his ability to play the mandolin.
After the accident, Dad was reluctant to play the mandolin. He felt that he could not play as well as he had before the accident. When I came home on leave and asked him to play he would make excuses for why he couldn't play. Eventually, we would 11)wear him down and he would say "Okay, but remember, I can't hold down on the strings the way I used to" or "Since the accident to this finger I can't play as good". For the family it didn't make any difference that Dad couldn't play as well. We were just glad that he would play. When he played the old mandolin it would carry us back to a cheerful, happier time in our lives. "Davey, Davey Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier", would again be heard in the little town of Bakerton, West Virginia.
In August of 1993 my father was 12)diagnosed with 13)inoperable lung cancer. He chose not to receive 14)chemotherapy treatments so that he could live out the rest of his life in dignity. About a week before his death, we asked Dad if he would play the mandolin for us. He made excuses but said "okay". He knew it would probably be the last time he would play for us. He 15)tuned up the old mandolin and played a few notes. When I looked around, there was not a dry eye in the family. We saw before us a quiet humble man with an inner strength that comes from knowing God, and living with him in one's life. Dad would never play the mandolin for us again. We felt at the time that he wouldn't have enough strength to play, and that makes the memory of that day even stronger. Dad was doing something he had done all his life, giving. As sick as he was, he was still pleasing others. Dad sure could play that Mandolin!

Africa adopts harmonized maritime transport charters
This follows the adoption of the African Maritime Transport Charter at the Second African Union Conference of Ministers Responsible for Maritime Transport, under the aion gold theme "Creation of a safe, secure and clean maritime transport industry", held in Durban, South Africa.
Director General of the Kenya Maritime Authority (KMA) Nancy Karigithu said in a statement issued in Nairobi on Sunday that the adoption of the charter would boost the maritime sector in Africa and propel the continent towards world class shipping and maritime trade standards.
"As a continent we must take the firm view that we cannot talk maritime transport outside of economic development and growth of the sector. The maritime transport sector in Africa is a giant that is aion gold waking up. African maritime transport has the capacity to grow our economies and create millions of jobs," said Karigithu.
The meeting was officially opened by South Africa's Transport Minister Sibusiso Ndebele. In East Africa for instance, the maritime industry contributes to about 95 percent of the aion kina total international trade, attracting attention as to why the sector needs to be developed.
Representatives from 36 member States, Regional Economic Communities, European Union, African and International Organizations took part in the Conference.
The aim of the conference was to consider and adopt the Draft African Maritime Transport Charter and consider the status of the aion kinah implementation of the Plan of action on maritime transport.
The ministers participating in the conference considered the Draft African Maritime Transport Charter and the Draft Resolution on Maritime, Security, Safety and Protection of the Marine Environment in Africa.
The ministers urged the African Union Commission to establish the mechanism to monitor the implementation of the charter so as to speed up its enforcement and inclusion in the national legislation.
The ministers expressed their satisfaction at the work carried out by the experts of member states towards harmonization of maritime laws.
The conference expressed concern about the meteoric increase in acts of piracy and armed robbery perpetrated against ships off the aion power leveling coast of Somalia and in the Gulfs of Aden and of Guinea.
Also discussed were the effects of pollution of the marine environment by unscrupulous ship operators.

Dolphins "have their own names"
Dolphins communicate like humans by calling each other by name, scientists in Fife reported.
Scientists have long known that dolphins' whistling calls include repeated information thought to be their names, but a new study indicates dolphins recognize these names even when voice cues are removed from the sound.
St Andrews University researchers studying in Sarasota Bay off Florida's west coast Florida discovered aion kina bottlenose dolphins used names rather than sound to identify each other.
The three-year-study was funded by the Royal Society of London.
Dr Vincent Janik, of the Sea Mammal Unit at St Andrews University, said they conducted the research on wild dolphins.
"We captured wild dolphins using nets when they aion kinah came near the shore," he said.
"Then in the shallow water we recoded their whistles before synthesising them on a computer with the caller's voice features removed so that we had a computer voice of a dolphin.
"Then we played it back to the dolphins through an underwater speaker and we found they responded strongly. This showed us that the dolphins know each other's signature whistle instead of just the voice.
"Now we know they have labels for each other like we do."
The findings are published in the US journal the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS).

Wolfsburg, Bayern snubbed at Champoins League
It was a frustrating evening for German top football clubs at Champions League games on Wednesday as German record champoins Bayern Munich went down 2-1 in Bordeaux, while a dominant Wolfsburg side were held 0-0 at home against Turkish champions Besiktas.
Bayern were reduced to nine men as they went down 2-1 to French champions Girondins de Bordeaux on an eventful but ultimately disappointing runescape money night at the Chaban Delmas stadium.

Netanyahu vows to defend Israelis against UN Gaza report

Girl,what u marry for? love or money?
The Wallet, there's a provocative Q & A with the authors of a new book called 'Smart Girls Marry Money,' a satirical self-help book which has a serious mission: to get women and men to talk more about marriage and finances.
The book came into being when the two working-mom authors, Elizabeth Ford and Daniela Drake, M.D., met while picking up their young aion gold children from preschool. They noticed that the moms who were able to spend the most time with their kids were the 'moms who hadn't necessarily taken their careers seriously and married someone with money,' said Dr. Drake in the interview. 'It became a joke that if we were smart, we would have married for money.'

In Shanghai Dee Dee Bridgewater to open for outdoor jazz concert
Dee Dee Bridgewater is expected to be the high note of this runescape gold year's 6th annual JZ Festival in Shanghai. The two-time Grammy-award winner from Memphis, Tennessee, will open for the weekend-long outdoor jazz concert at Century Park on Oct 16. Two days of live performances by nearly 20 national and international singers and bands will follow on Oct 17 and 18. Local stars will include China's "Father of Rock" Cui Jian and acclaimed rock veterans Zheng Jun and Zhang Chu.

For more on her music and upcoming concert, Shanghai Star Weekend reporter Zhang Kun spoke with Bridgewater ahead of her arrival to the city.

Bridgewater holds a special connection with the Middle Kingdom through her second daughter, China Moses, whose late father was of Chinese ancestry.
Q: So, what you will perform for us?
A: The program will be a selection of Big Band arrangements. I'll do five songs from my double-Grammy winning "Dear Ella" CD: "A Tisket-A Tasket", "Cottontail", "Mr. Paganini" (all Slide Hampton arrangements), "Oh Lady Be Good", "Undecided", "September Song" and "Alabama Song" (Cecil Bridgewater arrangements), "Cherokee", "Tenderly", "Shiny Stockings", "Polkadots & Moonbeams", "Let the Good Times Roll" (all arranged by Frank Foster), and perhaps two or three more selections.
Q: How do you hope to engage Chinese audiences?
A: All of the arrangements are musically challenging and exciting to listen to. I expect Chinese audiences to be warm and enthusiastic as has always been runescape gold my great fortune for which I am honored and humble. My wish is to give the Chinese public love, inspiration and some moments of happiness. I want them to feel the joy I experience when I perform.
Q: Your 2007 album Red Earth was largely inspired by Africa, and particularly sounds from Mali. So, how does your African heritage play into your music?
A: The album "Red Earth: A Malian Journey" was borne out of my personal quest to locate my African ancestry, which I attempted to do by listening to the many musical styles of West Africa, after tracing back my genealogy 150 years (with the aide of Cecil Bridgewater, my first husband). Malian music struck a deep cord within me so I made my first visit to Mali, West Africa in 2004. Two other visits were made over the next two years prior to recording the album in Bamako, the capital city at the famous Bogolan Studio. I feel that much of who I am today comes from my African heritage, and is certainly part of my musical roots, and my eclectic tastes in design and fashion. I have been forever changed due to Africa. I will never hear or interpret music in the same manner. I can say today that I'm proud to be African-American.
Q: You're also an UN ambassador for the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO). Tell us a bit about your involvement in that. A: Along with, Gina Lollibrigida and Dr Ruth. Levy-Montalchini, I became one of the first four Goodwill Ambassadors for the UN's FAO. I accompanied Mr Jacques Diouf, general director OF THE FAO, and agricultural ministers from various African countries on a three-day trip to 22 plus villages in Senegal to see first hand how the co-operatives work. I've since visited FAO co-ops in Mali.

Price Of A wonder
Tess was a precocious child eight-year-old girl when she heard her Mom and Dad talking about her little brother, Andrew. aion gold All she knew was that he was very sick and they were completely out of money. They were moving to an apartment complex next month because Daddy didn’t have the money for the doctor’s bills and our house.
Only a very costly surgery could save him now and it was looking like there was no-one to loan them the money. She heard Daddy say to her tearful Mother with whispered desperation, “Only a miracle can save him now.”
Tess went to her bedroom and pulled a glass jelly jar from its hiding place in the closet. She poured all the change out on the floor and counted it carefully. Three times, even. The total had to be aion kina exactly perfect. No chance here for mistakes.

Tess twisted her feet to make a noise. Nothing. She cleared her throat with the most disgusting sound she could muster.
No good. Finally she took a quarter from her jar and banged it on the glass counter. “We don’t sell miracles here, aion kina little girl. I’m sorry but I can’t help you,” the pharmacist said, softening a little. “Listen, I have the money to pay for it. If it isn’t enough, I will get the rest. Just tell me how much it costs.”
The pharmacist’s brother was a well-dressed man. He stooped down and asked the little girl, “What kind of a miracle does your brother need?” “I don’t know,” Tess replied with her eyes welling up.
“I just know he’s really sick and Mommy says he needs an operation. But my Daddy can’t pay for it, so I want to use my money.”
“How much do you have?” asked the man from Chicago.
“One dollar and eleven cents,” Tess answered barely audibly. “And it’s all the money I have, but I can get some more if I need to.”
“Well, what a coincidence,” smiled the man. “A dollar and eleven cents — the exact price of a miracle for little brothers. “He took her money in one hand and with the other hand he grasped her mitten and said “Take me to where you live.
